In line with Scrum methodology, a sprint can lasts up to 4 weeks, however, many teams often complete them within 1 or 2 weeks. Similarly, the corresponding retrospective is recommended to take no more than 4 hours, but it's common for teams to complete it within 30 to 90 minutes.
In reality, four weeks can sometimes be too long for a sprint, especially for new teams. Most agile coaches recommend starting off with shorter sprints, which can help teams adapt to the methodology more easily.
