Celebration Grid

The Celebration Grid is a visual tool designed to reflect on team efforts, achievements, and learning opportunities during a specific period (e.g., a sprint). It divides experiences into three main categories: We Tried: Actions or experiments that didn't fully succeed but showed effort and initiative. We Learned: Mistakes or challenges that provided valuable lessons. We Succeeded: Achievements and outcomes that met or exceeded expectations. This framework helps teams celebrate both successes and failures, reinforcing the importance of experimentation and continuous improvement.

How to conduct this activity

1.- Preparation: - Draw a 3x3 grid on a virtual collaboration tool. - Label the three columns as We Tried, We Learned, and We Succeeded. - Optionally, use rows to classify actions by categories such as team efforts, technical tasks, or communication challenges. 2.- Reflection Phase: - Give participants access to the digital tool. - Ask team members to write down examples of events, tasks, or actions from the last iteration that fit each column. Encourage them to: Highlight risks taken or ideas tested (We Tried). Identify lessons derived from mistakes or challenges (We Learned). Celebrate successful actions or outcomes (We Succeeded). 3.- Discussion Phase: - Discuss the inputs collaboratively, focusing on: What worked well and can be repeated. Which areas need improvement and how to address them. Ideas for new experiments to tackle challenges. 4.- Action Plan: - Decide on actionable items or experiments to prioritize in the upcoming sprint based on the insights.
